WARNING: Diesel Fuel Spilled In Freshwater Crk.

Last night a diesel fuel truck went off a bridge and into Freshwater creek spilling an unknown but large amount of diesel into the creek. The Humboldt Fire District estimates that 60-100 gallons of fuel went into the creek. Local blogger Heraldo reports that "the creek reeks of diesel" and "There’s oil below Freshwater Park so containment isn’t entirely successful."

The Times-Standard says "County health officials are advising area residents who draw water from Freshwater Creek to find other sources while cleanup continues..."
