Ancient Forests Across Pacific Northwest Threatened By Bush/Feds

In order to open up more of our public oldgrowth forests to logging, the Bush regime wants to reduce protections for Northern Spotted Owls. This endangered species relies on old forests for food, shelter and protection from predators.

"The reductions in protection in the proposal would be mostly in Oregon and California. But two big chunks of old-growth forest would be opened up to logging on the Olympic Peninsula, where the owls are faring worse than almost anyplace else."
