NPR Covers Kalmiopsis Roadless Logging, and other news.

Click here to listen to the report.

In other news, Pacific Lumbers Old-Growth Redwood logging plan in Bear Creek will go to 2nd review again on Thursday. This is happening in spite of the Water Board staff request in June that PL withhold from pursuing the approval of any new logging plans in Bear, Jordan or Stitz creek until major concerns over water quality are resolved. More to come on this issue.

Thank you SAF.

I would also like to impose a request on your blog. That being for anyone with an interest and facility to attend the trial of 4 remaining defendants in a 5 year old SLAPP brought by Pacific Lumber (SCOPAC) against them. It will likely last for a couple weeks and more information is posted here or through Humboldt Revolution.

Thanks for reminding me Noel. I'll try to cover the Mattole SLAPP trial soon. The trial is an important chapter in the struggle between Maxxam/PL and people seek local control of our forests and watersheds.
